Painter Tran Luu Hau Tran Luu Hau was born in Ninh Binh province in 1928. He specialises in gouache and silk. He has a strong sense of colour carrying much of decorative character of modern art. He is a stage decorator. Tran Luu Hau graduated from the Fine Arts College of Vietnam, the intake in the Resistance War, from 1950-1953, and the Surikov Fine Arts Academy, in Moscow, Department of Stage Decoration, 1955-1962 intake. He has works in the Fine Arts Museum of Vietnam, the Moscow Museum of Oriental Arts, the National Museum of East Asia Arts in Poland and in private collections. He was lecturer at the Hanoi Fine Arts College from 1962 to 1989 and a member of the Executive Committee, chairman of the Painting Art Council of the Vietnamese Association of Figurative Artists, second and third tenures from 1983 to 1994 and a member of its Secretariat, fourth tenure from 1989 to 1994. He won the second prize at the national fine arts exhibition in 1980 and the first prize at the graphic exhibition for the 1975-1985 period. His individual show was held in Paris in 1991 and a group exhibition, in Ho Chi Minh City in 1992. Some of his main works are ‘Sewing Shirts’ (gouache, Fine Arts Museum of Vietnam) and ‘Street’ (gouache). |
